Shug's Bagels

Who knew Google was such a great matchmaker? I have been craving a really good, authentic pastrami sandwich or Reuben in Dallas, and the results have been beyond disappointing. If you have read my other reviews, you can see why I was ready to give up. I thought I would try one more time, and did a Google search; Shug's Bagels came up. I had driven by them hundreds of times and never knew what they were, but thought it was worth a try. I didn't have a chance to go for a few weeks, and I have been getting nudges from Google suggesting I really needed to try it. When I gave in and finally tried it, I wondered why I had waited so long. The pastrami was true, authentic pastrami like I haven't had since I was in NYC at Katz's. It fell apart, melted in your mouth with the perfect amount of spices. The sauerkraut was fresh and tasty, and the deli mustard was exactly that. The everything bagels were divine, with a touch of salt that really brought the other flavors. They were the dense, water bath gems that I have been looking for, and they had been here all along. I can't wait to go back and try something else, and hoping lightening will indeed strike twice and my next experience will be as great as this one.

With some recent competition in Dallas, Shug’s is still leading the charge in town. The texture, flavor, bagel shell and doughy inside all hit the mark! Thank you for adding a bagel only or bagel as-is line when’s it’s busy - helps people looking to grab bagels and a spread quickly vs. the sandwich line! Definitely try their bacon/scallion cream cheese with their everything bagels. If you haven’t been to Shug’s yet, what are you waiting for?!

I recently visited Shug’s that left me feeling underwhelmed. While they offered a wide variety of bagels, I found the overall experience to be mediocre. The bagels themselves were disappointing, as they were noticeably high in calories without offering a correspondingly exceptional taste. Considering the health-conscious choices available nowadays, this shop fell short in providing a satisfying bagel experience. I left feeling unsatisfied and unlikely to return to Shug’s in the future.

I've been to Shug's three times, and I've ordered the same thing every time because their chicken pesto cutlet is so fantastic. The flavors of pesto, balsamic vinegar, chicken, mozzarella, and tomato blend together magnificently on their everything bagel. So jealous that this place is so close to the SMU campus, as I don't come here often because it's a 25min drive from my campus. Lines tend to be long around lunch time on Saturdays.

Really busy but awesome bagel place!! Aside from delicious bagels, they offer flavored cream cheeses and sandwiches. Super popular with the local students and just about everyone else. Staff was very helpful and nice. You can dine in or do take-out. My salt bagel with cream cheese was the bomb. Prices are good too. Highly recommend!!
